North Pole of the Moon Oct 4th 2011, 10:18 From Nick Greene, former Guide Pictures of the Moon - North Pole of the Moon Clementine Science Group, Lunar and Planetary Institute The above is a mosaic of about 750 Clementine images of the north pole of the Moon, from 800N to the pole (center). The nearside of the Moon is the bottom half of this mosaic, and the top half is the farside. In contrast to the south pole, the north pole shows very little area in permanent shadow (only about 500 square kilometers).
